Nell'opera poetica di Paul Celan mi ha sempre colpito la ricchezza inesauribile di immagini in perpetua gemmazione, di metafore che, lontano da ogni astratto estetismo, si pongono sempre in rapporto strettissimo - e a volte sordamente privo di ogni speranza - con un'esperienza di vita dolorosamente segnata dal tragico: la persecuzione nazista, lo sradicamento dalla propria terra, l'inserimento in nuove, faticose realtà.
Da tempo attendevo l'occasione per misurarmi con alcuni suoi versi a me più vicini: essa è giunta grazie a Pèter Köszeghy e all'AVA Ensemble, proseguendo una collaborazione in atto da qualche anno; ne è nato Auge der Zeit per voce e ensemble, suddiviso in cinque brevi pezzi ognuno dei quali costruito su una breve poesia tratta dalla raccolta Von Schwelle zu Schwelle (1955).
Almeno un cenno merita l'organico decisamente atipico, costituito da flauto dolce, violino, percussioni, fisarmonica, pianoforte e mezzosoprano: una tavolozza timbrica insolita e flessibile, pronta a seguire i versi di Celan nella loro strada visionaria.

In the poetry of Celan I have always been struck by the inexhaustible copiousness of images, like an everlasting germination. Images, metaphors that, far from empty rhetorical exercises, always show a close relationship - and sometimes it is dark, without hope - with a life branded by tragedy: the Nazi persecution, the uprooting from his own country.
I was waiting for some time for an opportunity to find a musical resonance for some of his poems: it has been given to me by Pèter Köszeghy and by his AVA Ensemble, continuing a collaboration that began some years ago; the result is Auge der Zeit, for voice and ensemble, which is the sum of five short pieces, each of which has grown on a different, short poem of Celan's Von Schwelle zu Schwelle (1955).
A few words must be said about the ensemble, which consists of recorder, violin, percussion, piano, accordion and voice: an unusual, adaptable canvas, ready to follow the verses of Celan on their visionary road.

In den poetischen Arbeiten von Paul Celan hat mich schon immer der unerschöpfliche Reichtum von Bildern fasziniert. Bilder, Metaphern, die, weit entfernt von leeren rhetorischen Phrasen, immer in einem engen Zusammenhang - und manchmal ist dieser dunkel, ohne Hoffnung - mit dem vor der Nazi-Tragödie gebrandmarkten Leben des Dichters stehen.
Pèter Köszeghy und das AVA-Ensemble, mit dem mich eine seit Jahren bestehende Weile, bis ich die Möglichkeit Gestalt zu geben. Das Resultat ist Auge der Zeit für Stimme und Ensemble, eine Summe von fünf kurzen Stücken, von denen jedes aus einem kurzen Gedicht aus Celans Von Schwelle zu Schwelle (1955) entstand.
Die ungewöhnliche Besetzung des Ensembles macht es möglich, den visionären Versen Celans zu folgen.
